Footballrise is an independent editorial index of hotels, organised into four categories: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. Each property is written up once, on its own tag, in plain prose.

The format is borrowed from luggage tags for a reason. A tag carries the minimum a bag needs to reach the right place — a code, a name, a destination — and nothing else. That is the amount of information most travellers actually want before they decide whether a hotel is worth reading more about.

What this site does not do

There are no star ratings here, no aggregated scores and no guest reviews, invented or otherwise. Nothing on the site can be booked, and no property has paid to appear or to be described in a particular way. Where a category is thin — the ice hotels page is the obvious case — it is left thin rather than filled out with properties that do not fit.

How entries are written

Every entry describes the building, the setting and the practical character of a stay: what the place is, where it stands, what it offers and who it tends to suit. The facts used are general and true to the character of the property rather than the kind of detail that changes with a season or a management contract. Prices, availability and current facilities should always be confirmed with the hotel itself.

Revisions

Hotels close, renovate, change hands and change what they offer. Entries here are revised when that happens and are not presented as a permanent record.
